New Life
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
At this point, if you’ve read this whole section without skipping over important points, you probably now understand the Christian gospel message. We’ve discussed that, in the beginning, God made a perfect world, but humans sinned against him. This ruined both the world and humanity. Sin stopped humans from having any positive relationship with God. Sin also requires God’s judgement. So, because God is a problem solver who wants to bring us back into relationship with him, he sent Jesus to take the punishment for sin in a way that satisfied his own terms of justice (since he cannot be unjust). Now if we accept this offer, we’re free from sin and judgement and able to begin a new and eternally restored relationship with him.
Christians think this is the most wonderful news. However, as I said in the preface, whether you think this is good news or not is up to you. Don’t hesitate to send through any difficult questions to us at info@considerchrist.org so we can help you on your journey.
If you do want to accept this message for yourself, we’re literally overjoyed! We think this is the best decision you will ever make. To accept this relationship with God you first need to say sorry to God for your sins in prayer. There’s an example prayer you could pray back in section one of this book. You’ll also need to commit to understanding God more deeply through the Bible. The Bible will then teach you how to live in relationship with God, which includes living God’s way and joining the community of his people. If you became a Christian reading this, don’t hesitate to email us at info@considerchrist.org. Then we can help you to start your new relationship with God and find a Christian community that will help you grow in your faith. The final thing to stress is that if you’re now serious about investigating Christianity, you need to read the Bible. This book is just a brief explanatory text of some of the Bible’s teachings; it doesn’t compare to the power of God’s words found in Scripture. No one can claim to have really investigated Christianity unless they have read Jesus words for themselves.
If you’ve made the decision to accept the offer of the gospel, the best place to start is by reading the life of Jesus in one of the biographical gospel books about Jesus’ life: Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Because the story of Jesus is at the heart of the Christian message, you should start reading the Bible by reading Jesus’ teachings in these books. I recommend getting a paper Bible, but you can read these gospel accounts online.
